PMC-UNIV-TEST is a test adapter with two configurations. Our engineers and production staff report a large increase in productivity.
The standard model uses the rear connectors, vertically oriented allowing almost full access to the primary side of your PMC. The standard model also has a SCSI connector interconnected with Jn4/Pn4 to bring rear IO out. Use with a SCSI cable and
HDEterm68 for a handy breakout to your system, loop-back etc.
The Engineering model has both PMC and carrier connectors installed and is designed to mount between the PMC and carrier.
The test points are labeled and provide access to the PCI bus without adding wires to your hardware. Plenty of Ground references for your logic analyzer or scope. JTAG connections for programming an FPGA.
For example we use with the
PMC-MC-X4-RIO. Very handy when figuring out the "Why won´t it boot?" kind of issue.
PMC-UNIV-TEST, and PMC-UNIV-TEST-ENG are passive devices with impedance controlled traces interconnecting the Gold Fingers of the PCI edge connector to the PMC connectors. All PCI signals are routed through including power, ground, PCI bus, secondary control signals. PMC-UNIV-TEST can be used for target and master mode accesses.
For test purposes the PMC device is mounted into your PC allowing Windows, Linux etc. and all of the tools available in a standard chassis. PMC-UNIV-TEST can be used in a conventional chassis. We tend to use with "open chassis" where the motherboard is removed from the chassis to have full access to both sides of the installed PMC device. Just a convenience factor for probing devices close to the backplane.
