PC104p-COOL Description

Three versions are available to meet your requirements: PC104-COOL, PC104p-COOL, and PCI-104-COOL. The difference between the versions is which connectors are installed. Multiple COOL cards can be installed per stack. All bus and power signals are passed through. Also known as a Fan Tray.

The fans can be mounted to blow in the standard direction or reversed. The Reverse direction is from the primary component side toward the secondary component side to provide cooling to the board under the fan card and throughout the stack. The forward direction will blow to the front and cool the rear side of the card above the "COOL" card in the stack.

The Zero Slot Fans™ are designed for low intrusion on either side of the PCB: .105" on the rear for the "F" model and the .08" for the "R" model. The low profile fans used have 4.7 CFM using 12V. The fans draw 50 mA each for a maximum of 100 mA on the 12V rail with a completely filled board.

Standard profile fans can be used in place of the low profile ones to provide more air flow per fan. Approximately 8 CFM per fan. The current is higher as well. The standard profile fans may require a spacer within the stack.

  • R For fans blowing to the rear onto the component side of the card below, replace the "X" above with "R"
  • F For fans blowing to the front onto the solder side of the card above, replace the "X" above with "F"
