Dynamic Engineering´s IndustryPack Compatible Designs work with all major buses: PCIe, PCI, cPCI, PC104p, VME, VPX and more.

The IndustryPack compatible IP-CF design converts between the IP Module bus and the IDE bus used for FLASH memory modules and other PC Card compatible designs. IP-CF acts as an adapter, converter, carrier, or bridge between the IP bus and your PC Card hardware. IP-CompactFlash comes with an industrial temperature CompactFLASH card (see Ordering information below for available CompactFLASH card sizes).

IP-CompactFlash is compatible with 8 and 32 MHz IP bus interfaces. A speed select control bit optimizes the CompactFLASH state machines for either frequency. When used with Dynamic Engineering PCIe based carriers such as PCIe3IP the internal pipeline on the carrier will work with the write through architecture [IP-CF] to provide the ability to write a block of data to the FLASH card and for your software to move on with other processing while the data is stored in the background.

The external IDE interface has fused power to support a transition module with a second device. Series resistors are used to dampen cable induced reflections when a second device is installed. The default is for the internal device to be the master. Most IP carriers use 50 pin headers to support ribbon cable. HDRterm50 can be used to create a terminal block interface.

A local oscillator and a complete IP control interface are provided to allow for custom implementations.

The IP Module driver can be instantiated multiple times to control multiple cards by the same CPU. IP-CF when coupled with the Dynamic Driver "knows" what slot it is in and which carrier it is installed into. The slot and carrier information is required when using multiple cards in a PCI system with dynamic address assignment. A known system configuration can be combined with the slot and carrier information to deterministically access the right card

PCIe implementations can be done with the PCIe3IP and PCIe5IP. Applications from 1 to 5 flash drives per PCIe slot.
PCI implementations can be done with the PCI3IP and PCI5IP. Applications from 1 to 5 flash drives per PCI slot.
cPCI 3U is supported with the cPCI2IP. Applications with 1 or 2 flash drives per 3U cPCI slot.
cPCI 6U is supported with the cPCI4IP. Applications from 1 to 4 flash drives per 6U cPCI slot.
PC104p is supported with the PC104pIP. Applications with 1 flash drives per PC104 stack position.
PC104p situations with a custom mechanical can be done with the PC104p4IP.
Applications from 1 to 4 flash drives per PC104 stack position.
3U VPX is supported with the VPX2IP. Applications with 1 or 2 Flash drives per 3U VPX slot.

IP-CF Features

Size
Type 1 [standard] IP Module
CompactFLASH Sockets
1 socket built in with the ability to use a transition module to add a second socket. Socket operates in true IDE mode.
Clocks
8 and 32 MHz operation IP Module bus operation.
Access Width
ID Prom is byte wide, internal control register is word wide, CompactFLASH module is word wide for data path and byte wide for control
ID PROM
The ID Prom is built into the FPGA. The PROM contents are available to determine the current revision of the IP-CF and to determine the slot location.
Write Cycle
The write cycle to the CompactFLASH is pipelined with an early termination to the IP host. The pipelining reduces the access time in writing to the FLASH memory. Read cycles wait for data to be available from the memory module.
Software Interface
Control registers are read-writeable.
IO, ID, INT spaces supported.
Interrupts
Interrupt level 0
Power Requirement
+5V internally, +5V routed to CompactFLASHsocket. P5V also routed to IO connector via self-healing fuse. Current levels determined by hardware installed.
Oscillator
An oscillator position is provided on the fab. The oscillator is not used with the base design. Custom versions with special frequency requirements can be supported.

IP-CF Benefits

Speed
With the direct IP to PC Card Bridge design featured in the IP-CF the access to your hardware happens fast. Using the PCI3IP and windows the sector read time is only 340 microseconds. With PCIe based carriers like PCIe3IP the internal FIFO on the carrier coupled with the write through architecture within IP-CF combine to allow block transfers and less CPU overhead.
Price
CompactFlash is very affordable. Add the equivalent of an Industrial Temperature mobile HDD with faster access speed and industrial toughness for a lot less money.
Ease of Use
IP-CF is easy to use. A point and shoot user interface to the CompactFLASH. Please download the manual and see for yourself. The engineering kit provides a good starting point for a new user. The reference software does a sector write and read-back test, checks the identify drive information and prints out the serial number, firmware revision, and model number plus provides tests for the IDPROM and other IP interface related hardware.
Availability
We work to keep IP-CF in stock. Dynamic Engineering has in house manufacturing capabilities for short lead times on larger orders.
Size
IP-CF is a standard size IP module which conforms to the IndustryPack mechanical and electrical specifications. No mechanical interference issues. IP-CF can be used in all IP slots.
IP Compatibility
IP-CF is IP compliant per the VITA 4 - 1995 specification. All Dynamic Engineering IP Modules are compatible with the PCIe3IP, PCIe5IP, PCI3IP, PCI5IP, cPCI2IP, cPCI4IP, PC104pIP etc. IP-429 will operate with any IP specification compliant carrier board.
