MIL-STD-1553 is a versatile standardized bus interface. MIL-STD-1553 is robust featuring Manchester encoding and enough voltage swing to provide excellent noise immunity and reasonable throughput rates. MIL-STD-1553 is the interface of choice for critical applications; for example aircraft instrumentation and control. There are many devices supporting the 1553 bus - navigation devices, instrumentation, sensors and more. IP-1553 makes it easy to gain access to the MIL-STD-1553 bus. Just connect; program a few registers and then use like an IO device. IP-1553 is currently supported with the Dynamic Engineering Carrier software drivers for Linux and Windows®. Use an existing IP slot within your chassis or combine with a carrier to make PCIe-1553, PCI-1553, PC104p-1553, VME-1553 or cPCI-1553.

Connect your hardware to your favorite Avionics with IP-1553. IP-1553 is an IndustryPack® compatible MIL-STD-1553 interface featuring dual redundant BC, RT and Monitor capabilities in one slot. The DDC Micro-ACE provides the industry compatible 1553 interface with 64K of RAM and programmable master, target and monitor operation. Support for both Direct coupled [short stub] and Transformer coupled [long stub] operation is provided. The IP-1553 comes in industrial temperature [-40C to +85C] standard.

IP-1553 is standard single wide IP which is 8 and 32 MHz. IP Bus compatible. The IP interface supports the Micro-ACE 1553 interface through the IO, INT and Memory spaces.

The IP Module driver can be instantiated multiple times to control multiple cards by the same CPU. IP-1553 when coupled with the Dynamic Driver "knows" what slot it is in and which carrier it is installed into. The slot and carrier information is required when using multiple cards in a PCI system with dynamic address assignment. A known system configuration can be combined with the slot and carrier information to deterministically access the right card

  • PCIe implementations can be done with the PCIe3IP and PCIe5IP. Applications from 1-10 Dual Redundant nodes per PCIe slot.
  • PCI implementations can be done with the PCI3IP and PCI5IP. Applications from 1-10 Dual Redundant nodes per PCI slot.
  • cPCI 3U is supported with the cPCI2IP. Applications from 1Dual Redundant connection to 4 dual redundant connections per 3U cPCI slot.
  • cPCI 6U is supported with the cPCI4IP. Applications from 1 Dual Redundant connection to 8 dual redundant connections per 6U cPCI slot.
  • PC104p is supported with the PC104pIP. Applications from 1 Dual Redundant connection to 2 dual redundant connections per PC104 stack position.
  • PC104p situations with a custom mechanical can be done with the PC104p4IP.
    Channel counts from 1 Dual Redundant connection to 8 dual redundant connections per PC104 stack position.

    The IP-1553 supports the Micro-ACE. Because the Micro-ACE is backward compatible the IP-1553 can be used as an upgrade path to older Mini and ACE based designs without much if any effort changing your software. DDC provides a library to support the Micro-ACE to help with new designs or designs which will take advantage of the updated features. For example the worst case delay is reduced from 2.8 uS to .63 uS with the newer Micro-ACE device.

The MIL-STD-1553 interface supports the standard rates and can be reprogrammed to alternate user requirements. Dynamic Engineering carriers support 32 to 16 conversion in HW allowing for 32 bit accesses on the PCI bus. Our new PCIe carriers support x8, x16, x32, and x64 accesses to the IP. Fill or read the circular buffers with quad accesses for higher performance.
